Job Description

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is on the hunt for a mission-driven professional with strong management skills to become our next Software Developer/Team Lead at the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) in California. The candidate will support our Air Force Operational Test (AFOTEC) Team. This is a great opportunity to be on the cutting edge of next generation software development for NASA Projects!

As a Software Developer/Team Lead, you will:

Week in the life of Software Developer/Team Lead:

  • Develop/modify/enhance software written in C++, C#, Python, Unity in flight test applications.
  • Work with a real time operating system. 
  • Develop TCP/UDP communication, especially over unreliable networks. 
  • Work in a Linux terminal environment. 
  • Work with real-world sensor data to determine aircraft state: dealing with uncertainty/noise, different reference geoids.
  • Apply software development principles in a team environment to develop and refine automated processes.
  • Record test or report procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and make recommendations for changes.
  • Create reports and other documentation necessary to describe the results of studies and/or tests.
  • Analyze indicated and calculated results in relation to requirements, specifications, or test objectives.
  • Work with/lead a software team of 5-10 people; assign tasks and manage tasks and people to get them done. 
  • Communicate and manage software requirements with leads of other teams across several projects. 
Job Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM w/3 years of experience OR
    • Master's STEM degree w/one year experience OR
    • Doctorate's STEM degree w/no experience
  • Experience with agile methodology.
  • Experience with Git, including GitLab administration.
  • Software development experience with C++, C#, Python, and/or Unity.
  • Strong management and communication skills

NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES A 9/80 WORK SCHEDULE (alternating Fridays off); core hours are between 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000.
