Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Correctional Education Programs and the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Vocational Instruction, the Vocational Instructor is responsible for instructing, counseling, evaluating, and presenting individual vocational programs for assigned inmate students. The instructor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising vocational projects designed to apply trade knowledge learned in the program.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined a candidate does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by departmental annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
