The Activity Manager will conduct themselves in a manner that will bring honor and glory to God and credit to The Salvation Army at all times. To the best of his/her ability, they will seek to further the Army's commitment to Christian camping.

Position Summary:

The Activities Manager will lead activities for our many groups. Provide hosting shifts weekly and as required by group needs. Assist in summer program needs, mainly on the activity side of summer operations. Future Discipleship/internship program - provide leadership for this future program.

Essential Functions:

    The Activities Manager has 2 main functions, a 3rd seasonal function and a future role - Activities Leader for Guest Groups, Hosting duties for guest groups, Assist in summer program needs and Year-Round Discipleship Program.

    1. Activities
      • Lead all activities needed for groups. This includes inspections, organization, scheduling, maintaining, training, and supervision of all activity items.
        • Routine inspections of all activity areas and equipment to ensure the highest standards are being met according to local regulations, ACA and TSA policies.
        • Ensure all activities are organized according to guest group and summer camp needs
        • Schedule all staff needed to accomplish activity needs.
        • Responsible for the appropriate training and supervision of activity staff
        • Responsible for maintaining inventories and to seek approval for the purchase of new needed equipment.
        • Supervise lifeguards and ensure the pool operation is efficient including all equipment
    2. Guest Group Hosting
      • Assist in hosting groups while onsite - The Activities Manager will take shifts to assist the Guest Service Manager.
      • While hosting:
        • Ensure that camp is set up according to the groups needs
        • Attend guest group leader meetings ensuring that camp is ready for each group
        • Check on group often providing great customer service in all aspects of camp.
        • Follow Group host checklist
        • Work with Operations Manager to ensure camp is always cleaned and maintained while groups are on site
        • After group departure, ensure all lighting and climate control devices are turned off and all areas appropriately secured.
    3. Summer Program Needs
        • Assist in the planning process for summer programs
        • Assist with summer staff interviews
        • Assist with staff training weeks
        • Organize, plan, take leadership in all activity needs
    4. Year Round Discipleship program (future)
        • Assist in the creation of a year round discipleship/internship program
        • Provide leadership to the year round discipleship program
      • Encourage the professional and spiritual growth staff under your care.
      • Assist in maintaining ACA (American Camping Association) and CCCA (Christian Camping & Conference Association) accreditation standards as well as the preparation of all necessary reports - the majority of these accreditations are based upon programmatic/activity based elements.

    Education
    High School or Equivalent (required)

    Experience
    Must have experience supervising staff. Must have a combination of college education, training and experience in the camping industry. Word processing experience. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel especially valuable. Friendly and personable. Excellent customer service skills required Must 21 years or older. (required)
