This position is located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.

This position not eligible for a (hybrid) telecommuting schedule.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, monitor, support, and maintain systems in a 24x7 highly available production environment.
  • Microsoft Server administration - Install and patch Operation System (OS), apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), create file shares, apply folder permissions, analyze log files, and automate routine administration tasks.
  • Web server - Instantiate and administer web sites using Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS). Manage web certificates.
  • Server hardware - Setup, configure and troubleshoot physical server hardware, storage arrays, cabling, and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS). Maintain server lifecycle - provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of the hardware.
  • VMware - Build and manage virtual machines in a vSphere environment, configure datastores, VM migrations, manage certificates, apply updates, patches and STIGS.
  • Backups - Manage server backup and restore operations using Backup Exec and tape backup hardware.
  • Administration of Microsoft Windows, Windows Server, and Windows SQL Server operating systems.
  • Track licensing and support contracts for server related software and hardware.
  • Create and track work orders.
  • Create, monitor, and maintain work procedures supporting process improvement and knowledge management practices.
  • Resolve errors and alarms quickly and provide timely escalation and support process improvements.
  • Work with external vendors/consultants to diagnose complex problems and drive resolution.
  • Engage in knowledge sharing and provide training to enhance Quality Control of production and development environments.
  • Provide server and application support during launch operations.
  • Work on system initiatives, new projects, and other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to generate and implement innovative solutions to problems to create new products, processes, and services.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to document work performed, and communicate complex technical problems concisely and professionally to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, identify, isolate, and resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to portray a high degree of professionalism and ability to work with customers, senior leadership and peers.
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to work multiple tasks concurrently while adapting to changes in task priority.
  • History of punctuality and reliability with a strong work ethic.
  • Able to adapt to changing technologies, security threats, and changing priorities.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent technical discipline, related military experience, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years' work experience as a Windows Server Administrator.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access). Visio a plus.
  • Experienced with Virtualization using VMware.
  • Knowledge and experience to manage server backup and restore operations.
  • Microsoft IIS website administration and web certificate management experience.
  • Efficient troubleshooting and problem-solving experience, adept at identifying issues, diagnosing problems, and swiftly finding solutions.
  • Experience developing reports with querying Microsoft SQL, preferred.
  • VMware Certified Professional Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DVC) certification, preferred.
  • Familiarity with Non-Classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPR) network operation and configuration, preferred.
  • Familiarity with Oracle databases, preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours, or on weekends, to support specific project or mission requirements.
  • Must have current CompTIA Security+ certification or ability to obtain one within six months of hire date.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
  • This position is assigned to Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA.

The salary range for this role is $76,970 to $98,727.; however, RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.
