Job Description
Position Summary

This is a full-time, 175-day (10-month annual contract) tenure-track faculty position in the Industrial Technology Department. A machining & manufacturing faculty member provides instruction in all aspects of Machining and Manufacturing Technology, which will include teaching courses in conventional and CNC machining, CAD/CAM, print reading, safety, quality, measurement, and manufacturing processes, and teaching in both the classroom and in laboratory settings. The faculty member will evaluate and advise students; and plan, prepare, and revise instructional materials as necessary to improve student success. The faculty member will participate in program review, assessment, and curriculum development; maintain five (5) office hours weekly for student consultation; and participate fully in department and college activities, including membership on department and campus-wide committees. The faculty member will maintain class and examination schedules, as well as grade and attendance records, according to college regulations; and perform related tasks and duties as required. The faculty member may also provide outreach to, and articulation with, district high schools and four-year colleges and universities. The assignment may include teaching at any college site and/or evening and weekend classes.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to
Instruct in current machine technology

Communicate effectively

Work with students possessing a broad range of academic preparation, learning styles, skills, motivation, and educational goals

Establish and maintain cooperative and supportive working relationships with colleagues and students

Plan, organize, and effectively present innovative course materials and concepts
function well in a technology-driven environment

Incorporate current technology such as graphing calculators, smart classrooms, computers, and web sites into instruction

Apply evaluation and assessment methods

Identify and use learning outcomes and assessment that lead to course and program improvements

Maintain program currency and curriculum for both career and transfer students

Evidence of sensitivity to:

An understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and community college students and of staff and students with disabilities.

Experience and enthusiasm for teaching a variety of Machining and Manufacturing

Technology courses in conventional and CNC machining, CAD/CAM, shop math, measurement, print reading safety, quality, measurement, and manufacturing processes.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience

OR

Any associate degree and six years of professional experience

BEGINNING DATE:
August 2024, pending Board approval.

The hiring salary range is $61,634 to $84,806 dependent upon education and experience.
