Job Description:

Role: You will drive performance improvements that will allow customers to further scale their application platforms that build, run and manage their modern workloads across multi and hybrid cloud infrastructure.

Product: You will work on the Tanzu Application Service (or TAS) which is a cloud platform based on the open-source Cloud Foundry project that enables application developers to build and run their applications efficiently. It manages containerization, traffic routing, logging, metrics, and build workflows so that engineers can focus on what matters most to them -- solving problems for their customers. TAS is a successful product that is loved by customers and has $500 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR).

Company: Broadcom recently completed its acquisition of VMware bringing together the combined strength of two engineering-first, innovation-centric businesses that share a focus on customer success. You will be a part of the Tanzu division of Broadcom working on Tanzu platform which helps app and platform teams develop, operate, and optimize applications at scale, and is anchored to a common data foundation that understands the state of applications from build to deploy to operate.


Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

In your first year, you will:

  • Define performance considerations and parameters for large-scale TAS deployments and drive performance improvements in TAS.

  • Publish recommendations to TAS customers to tune performance covering functional and operational concerns.

  • Implement performance measurement scenarios reflecting customer deployments and workloads.


The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

In this role, you will:

  • Lead performance engineering strategy and implement performance tools, automation and reports.

  • Analyze platform architecture and understand customer deployments to identify potential performance bottlenecks and solutions to address those.

  • Engage with customers in monitoring platform performance and troubleshooting performance issues that impact applications or platform capabilities.

  • Partner with TAS product and engineering teams in technical scoping on cost and complexity of analyzing platform performance capabilities, identifying key risks, exploration of technology options, and finalizing design and implementation decisions.

  • Balance strategic and tactical thinking in maximizing engineering investments in improving TAS performance and scale.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field and 12+ years of related experience, or MS degree in Computer Science or related field and 10+ years of related experience

Where is this role located?
Our team is a globally distributed team. This role is for in-person work at one of the office locations in the US our teams are based at: Palo Alto, Bellevue, or Austin.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $111,000 - $210,000.

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
