Summary Administering to daily technical and quality issues; understanding the product end use and material constraints, defining internal requirements necessary to produce the product and addressing customer technical and quality concerns. This individual will be expected to support the quality team and is therefore expected to assist with export/import compliance, internal auditing, document control, and to participate hands-on in continuous improvement projects. Essential Functions 1. Review performance against key process parameters to establish process capabilities, which includes regular review of SPC data and updating of control limits, as warranted. 2. Develop and implement cost reductions, product improvement, process improvement and yield improvement processes that are sustainable. 3. Monitor product performance - properties, physical characteristics (length, straightness, surface condition) and yield. 4. Review customer specifications for acceptance 5. Create, maintain, and training on quality documents (CP's, PC's, SWI's, OPL's, Quality Alerts) 6. Participate in internal and external audits (SWI, AS9100, Customer) 7. Support Quality Manager in the Management Review process (Quarterly update Dunkirk PEAR/KPI's) 8. Coordinate retrieval of records with the records information center (i.e., Iron Mountain) 9. Interface with customers on quality related issues 10. Technical supervision of Dunkirk Processes and employees 11. Review and approve Homogenization cycles, furnace surveys, and furnace related calibration reports 12. Develop and maintain forge programs for the 4K ton press and GFM 13. Support development and maintenance of forge tables for SMC material and toll conversion customers 14. Disposition and close variances or upgrade to IRR if needed. Additionally track variances and IRR's for root cause analysis Qualifications Education and Experience Employee will have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a preference for disciplines including Metallurgical or Material Science or similar discipline. A basic understanding of physical metallurgy as it applies to thermomechanical processing and properties of metals are also required. The employee will also have knowledge of the principles and practices of VAR/VIM/ESR melting, the ability to prepare written reports and correspondence as well as presentations to senior leadership, the ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally, the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
