The Opportunity:

The Licensing Manager will lead the licensed publishing business for US and Canada. This role will work with new and existing licensees to develop and grow the licensed publishing plan for all Mattel brands. This role will also work with the Head of Global Publishing to drive the sales of the vertical program. This role will report into the Head of Global Publishing.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Partner with licensees & accounts to develop publishing plan to align with publishing strategies and to meet AOP Financial Targets.
  • Partner with sales & distribution partner to drive sales for vertical titles to meet AOP financial targets.
  • Develop and implement US/Canada licensed publishing strategy.
  • Pitch new properties to potential licensees.
  • Identify and pitch new potential formats to grow licensed publishing business.
  • Manage deal making process from pitch process, financial negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Meet with licensees regularly to provide brand updates and to receive business updates.
  • Conducts annual business reviews with licensees.
  • Partner with retail team to identify retail opportunities and provide retail support for licensed and vertical business.
  • Manage US/Canada publishing catalog for both licensed and vertical titles for retail presentations.
  • Working with licensees, provide forecasts for US/Canada licensees as needed by Finance team.
  • Partner with global business teams to identify global opportunities. Manage global deal execution for specific partners.
  • Review and approve licensed publishing plan and materials as needed.
  • Partner with Canada team on Canada specific deal points and strategies.
  • Partner with legal team to lead contract to execution.
  • Partner with marketing and social teams to ensure licensed and vertical publications are supported within Mattel ecosystem.
  • Participate in meetings with Simon and Schuster and provide support as needed.

What We're Looking For:

  • A minimum of 5 years publishing licensing experience in the US/Canada market.
  • Strong track record in securing new partners and generating revenue.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Ability to work with multiple brand, content, and franchise stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with team members and licensees across the globe.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • The ability to sell ideas both internally and externally.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to present to internal and external partners.
  • Strong network within the publishing industry.
  • Demonstrated agrowth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $117,600-147,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.
