Job Summary

This position performs phlebotomy on outpatients using established venipuncture techniques and procedures. Responsibilities include giving instructions to patients and healthcare providers for specimen collection. Perform clerical duties as needed.

Department Description

The UCSF Clinical Laboratory (CL) at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) provides laboratory testing services for inpatients and outpatients of ZSFG, Laguna Honda Hospital, District Health Centers and other facilities under the auspices of the San Francisco Public Health Department.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical/clinical laboratory terminology.
  • High school graduation or GED, and two years of appropriate experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT1) license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate willingness to be a team player.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computers.

License/Certification

  • California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT1) license
