Senior Property Accountant

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
Our client, a real estate management firm, is looking for a Senior Property Accountant to join their team.

LOCATION: Belmont. They would like this person to do 5 days/week to start. The Controller confirmed that this person can drop to 3-4 days in office once they are fully up to speed.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for the financial closing and reporting of multiple partnership portfolios, including the analytical review and reconciliation of all entities in compliance with US GAAP and Company Policy and Procedures for Financial Reporting. Candidates must have strong MS Excel, MS Word and accounting software skills. Candidates must also possess the ability to analyze complex accounting transactions, understand complex accounting treatment of a variety of transactions and resolve discrepancies in the financial data as part of the period closing process.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Prepare monthly financial statement packages for several entities and owners with various deadlines throughout the month.
  • Monthly, Quarterly, semi-annual and annual reporting requirements.
  • Specific responsibilities include:
      • Analysis and interpretation of financial information, compilation, and reporting data for assigned portfolio of properties. Prepares complex account reconciliation and journal entries and performs on-going analytical review in support of the monthly close process.
      • Prepares monthly analysis of account variances using trailing 12 income statement as basis.
      • Process bad debt write-offs of delinquent accounts per owner guidelines and direction.
      • Creation of cash projections and calculation of monthly owner distributions
      • Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas of improvement.
      • Understands and interprets compliance and partnership documents, including regulatory and loan agreements as well as the accounting treatment associated with each document
      • Research and documents conclusions on accounting issues with appropriate understanding of relevant GAAP pronouncements
      • Creation and submission of scheduled financial reports to lenders
      • Compile budget packages for Regional Managers
      • Compile tax packages for tax accountants
      • File business tax licenses for properties
      • File 571-L/571-R personal property returns for properties
      • Complete property audits
      • Oversee and/or supervise other accounting personnel
      • Provides ad-hoc reporting, as requested
      • Performs other assignments as required

This position works closely with our on-site Property Managers, Regional Managers and A/P Specialists.

COMPENSATION:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $90K - $115K + bonus. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
