Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN), Detox is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, providing patient-centered care to individuals in the dual diagnosis inpatient detox and residential facility. The RN is responsible for assessing patients' physical and mental health, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and maintaining medical records.

SHIFT: PM Shift 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Detox Experience Required

Essential Duties:

    Evaluate medical complaints/concerns from residents and relay information to appropriate NP/MD.
  • Complete treatment plans when indicated, provide direct care and nursing services to clients as prescribed by program regulations, and client health screening.
  • Monitor chronic health conditions, respiratory distress, and seizures.
  • Monitor and report vital signs, Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS) and Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment (CIWAS), wound care, follow up treatments, appointments of residents,
  • Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments for new admissions, including a review of medical history, drug and alcohol use, and mental health symptoms.
  • Administer medications as prescribed, monitor for side effects, and educate patients about medication benefits and potential side effects.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, documenting all assessments, interventions, patient responses, and changes in condition.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, to ensure integrated care.
  • Understanding of the principles of addiction recovery and experience with dual diagnosis patients.
  • Ensure client safety by using verbal de-escalation methods to redirect client behaviors and prevent/respond to Use CPI techniques if client poses imminent physical danger to themselves or others.
  • Facilitate residential daily schedule including participating in, and providing support to residents, to include but not limited to, activities such as chores, assisting with laundry service, groups, activities, and events.
  • Supervise clients with detox orders, specifically from drug and/or alcohol use, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Conduct admissions and Comply with all mandated reporting requirements, biohazard program requirements, medical protocols, infection control, etc.
  • Ensure accurate and timely initiation of medications and arrival of medications from pharmacy.
  • Communicate with Care Coordinators (CCs) regarding medication concerns.
  • Order all medication refills in a timely manner.
  • Destroy medications per DEA protocol.
  • Coordinate with operations staff to order any/all medical equipment.
  • May include phlebotomy.
  • Supervision of patients to include the facilitation of the daily schedule.
  • Remain current and up to date on all trainings and certifications required to maintain employment with Newport Healthcare.
  • May act as point of contact for the shift and may delegate tasks at the direction of the Supervisor.
  • Provide transportation to residents for community outings and meetings in company vehicle in a safe and legal manner.
  • Take lead on communicating with supervisor on progress for admits, discharges, and client needs during these activities.
  • Facilitate client daily phone calls.
  • Communicate with parents via email via the 72-hour email updates.
  • May act as point of contact for the shift and may delegate tasks at the direction of the Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Must have Detox Experience and Possess a current and unrestricted Registered Nurse License in state applying for work.
  • Experience in residential nursing a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for insurance coverage for driving the company's vehicles.

    • Must pass the applicable state/agency background check required for the work location jurisdiction, prior to employment.
    • Pre-employment drug screening.
    • Must possess a current and valid CPR certification or obtain within the first 30 days of employment.
  • California
    • Minimum age is 18 years old, as a requirement for employment.
    • Health screening, TB clearance, and valid CPR/First Aid, and criminal record clearance are required prior to employment.
  • Connecticut
    • Minimum age is 21 years old, as a requirement for employment.
  • Virginia
    • Must pass a Health Screening, TB test, and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Washington
    • Minimum age is 18 years old, as a requirement for employment.
    • Must pass a Health Screening, TB test, and pre-employment drug screening.

Salary Range for this position $36.89-$46.00 per hour based on education and experience.
