We are seeking to hire an experienced Development Scientist II for our assay development team in our Research & Development department. The Development Scientist II performs a variety of tasks associated with the development of new products and manufacturing processes, the investigation into and implementation of product and process changes, and the transfer of new products and processes to the manufacturing departments. As a Development Scientist II, you will conduct the feasibility, optimization, verification, and validation experiments in support of IVD immunoassay development in the area of immunohematology. To achieve this, you will use established protocols and apply technical and scientific understanding to complete projects in a timely manner.If your degree is in medical technology, biology, or immunology, this is a great opportunity to launch your career in transfusion assay development!

Research & Development Scientist (R&D Laboratory)

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

    Investigating and implementing the changes in product and process
  • Developing departmental procedures/processes, work instructions, and experimental templates
  • Writing protocols and technical reports under minimal supervision
  • Compiling raw data and organizing data for further statistical analysis
  • Collaborating with members of other departments to meet project objectives and deliverables
  • Performing specified administrative functions to ensure the day to day operations of project team and department
  • Implementing special projects for the project teams and department(s)
  • Procuring the reagents, samples, and lab supplies required for the projects
  • Conducting the equipment maintenance as required
  • Participating in identifying resources for the department including facility, equipment, personnel, and budgetary requirements
  • Delivering technical presentations at project and internal department meetings

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:

  • Master's degree or higher in medical technology, biology, chemistry, immunology, or a related field
  • Understanding and demonstrated ability to operate under design control
  • Strong technical skills including: ELISA, bioassays, immunohematology, Automation, liquid handlers.
  • Knowledge and practice of GDP, GMP and GLP highly desirable
  • Adequate vision to read and interpret manual test tube reactions
  • ASCP certified Medical Technologist preferred
  • Experience in blood bank, transfusion medicine or working with human biological materials preferred
  • In depth understaning of experimental design
  • Basic scripting experience (Python, R or similar) would be an advantage.
